Hey! I'm Back...

Hey there! This is the longest I have gone without posting for a while. Hope you're still here.

As you can see, I went to Houston. Those are my cousins - Chloe, Brayden and Kayla holding me in the picture. I had a good trip. Got to see the family with Babe, aunt Teresa, aunt Erin and uncle Byron in addition to the kids. Also got together with the Pasta's. Yo, Pastas! Yo, Houston!

(Sorry, still no cowboy hat. Thanks for asking, though)

I travel really well. Mom didn't have any troubles with me at all. This is a good thing. The humidity in Houston caused my cast to bother me a bit, but once mom took it off, all was good.

Today marks another milestone - my 2 month appointment at the pediatrician. I got weighed (10lbs, 3oz) and measured (22 and 5/8"). I'm at the 20th percentile for weight, 50th for height and 25th for head size. I'm catching up, though - I've gained 65 ounces in 60 days. The Doctors are happy with my progress.

I also got a new cast (white) and a bunch of shots today. I put up with it pretty well, but I'm sleepy today.

That's about all from Denver. How's everyone doing? Did you know that in addition to adding comments to this post, you can email me by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page?

Until next time. D...

New Photos at Imagestation

I'm still in Houston (more about that in a later post), but I wanted to let you know that there is a new photo album linked in over on the right-hand side of the blog.

Howdy Partner

I'm all dressed up and ready to go. Mommy and I are off to Houston today. As you can see, I’m wearing my western outfit so that I’ll fit in. It’s a little big for me still, but I hear everything in Texas is big, so I don’t think that will be a problem.

My cast is white this week. The doctor seems more and more pleased with my progress every week. AND, more importantly, I’m over half way done! Woo hoo!

Talk to y’all when I get back! Take care now, ya hear!

A lot of new things are happening

This was a pretty eventful weekend. I went on my first vacation with Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Farmor. We rented a cabin up in the mountains for the weekend and had a good time. I had my first overnight stay and my first hike (You can tell that I'm in the picture from the red-casted leg hanging from the baby bjorn).

Also, I went for a long car ride, went over 12,000 feet and saw a bunch of wildlife.

So, whew! I'm exhausted. But I was really, really good. So good, in fact, that I'm going on tour next week. Mom is taking me to visit family and friends in Texas, while Dad is stuck going on a business trip. So there might not be an update for a few days, but hang tight, Danielites.

Until next time,
D

Farmor was here (and other updates)

Danielites! This is a delayed posting, but I wanted to let you know that Farmor (literally: "Fathers Mother" in Norwegian) and Grandpa have been visiting. She came with me to Childrens' Hospital this week and saw me get a new cast (the red one).

All week long, but particularly this weekend, the grandparents did the night-time feedings, so mom and dad got to sleep. Very popular move, that.

A couple of updates: I'm now drinking a Fennel-based tea for my stomache, and that's working wonderfully (thanks Aunt Sara). My acne is better, but we're now thinking it's an allergy to my bath products, rather than the starchy shirts.

Oh, and the exciting news is that I'm talking more. OK, so I mostly coo, but sometimes I break out a full "Ah-goo" which at 2 syllables isn't half bad!

I'm sure there is more, and I'm sure I'm forgetting what it is right now. Hope that everyone had a wonderful week since last time.

Love, D

Happy happy happy

It's TUESDAYand y'all know what that means don't you? Yes, it's new-cast-day. It's red again. If you pay really close attention to the series, you should be recognizing a pattern by now. Let's hear your vote, Danielites - what's the next one going to be?

In any case, I'm smiling more and more, and this is the first time Dad actually had the camera around when I was grinning, so you can get some idea of what I look like when I'm happy these days. I am so gosh-darn cute, it's unbearable.

Grandpa and Farmor are visiting, and there are some pictures of them too, but that will have to wait until my next posting, because it's just not that easy to post more than one picture a day. Stay posted for another Imagestation album soon - we're up to more than 700 pictures taken since I arrived.

My acne was getting pretty bad, but now we think it was a reaction to the starch on Dad's shirts, and early indications are that it's better now. Hope to be all baby-smooth again soon.

I think that'll have to do for now. Until next time.

Six weeks old, and too cool for words

Well, hello there...

Do I look suave, or what? Today I'm six weeks old, so mom took me over to the pediatrician's office to check out my weight. 9lbs, 2oz with the cast, probably just under 9lbs without. That works out to about 1oz/day (30 grams for the European Danielites). The parents are very happy.

I have some new skills - how shall I say this? I've figured out how to belch and fart (without looking like I'm straining a gut). I've been exercising the new skills quite a bit lately, which the parents are a little less happy about. Oh well.

A big hug to all of you who are still reading the blog. After a burst of activity, and almost 1000 visitors, it seems that things have slowed down and we're back to the true fans. Love all of you.

Until next time.

Nothing really new today

I suddenly realized that I haven't published a single picture of me and mom here. My bad. Dad couldn't quite get the picture he wanted, and the flashes were starting to annoy me, so mom stepped in with my pacifier. Yay, mom!

As I told you yesterday, the new cast is blue. For fun, you might look back to May 10th, when I got my first blue cast... Quite a difference, no? I hardly fit in that outfit anymore.

Until next time. D

Smiling at the world!

Howdy folks

Now, I know that you're wondering where the picture of the new cast is. It's blue. There would be a picture, except that Dad doesn't want to risk waking me. Dennis, who is my man at Children's hospital, was really happy about my progress today. He said I'm at 100% correction and range of motion in one direction, 95% in another. Not sure that this means I get out of the cast any sooner, but it's nice to know it's going the right way.

As far as the mom and dad are concerned, today's big news is that I'm smiling at them. Not those little could-it-be-gas? smiles either -> big, honking, oh-my-I'm-happy-to-see-you-smiles. I'm so cute I make myself sick. Again, there will be pictures - except for the fact that no-one wanted to miss the smile for a second to run for the camera. Maybe tomorrow - I'll even break my rule about not showing the baby acne.

I've graduated to bigger (9oz) bottles because I was consistently eating at least 4oz in a setting.

That'll have to be enough for now. Pictures and more updates soon.

Love, D.

Drinking in public places

It's a lazy Saturday afternoon, and I'm just back from a trip to the park. Ahhh - summertime in Denver. Sitting on a park bench with a bottle of white, just enjoying the people-watching. Life is good.

I have a product to recommend. As some of you know, I have a classy set of wheels -> Phil and Ted's most excellent stroller (I kid you not, it's really called that). This thing goes on pavement, it goes off-road, it reclines so I'm flat, and it's a jogging-style stroller. It is, in short, perfect for getting me to sleep. Two fists up! :)

Not so much else to report, really. I'm in-between visitors at the moment. Babe left last weekend, and the grandparents from Norway (Grampa and Farmor) show up on Friday, so for now, it's just the three of us. My new trick is that I can grab a rattle if Mom holds it up for me, and I'll hold onto it. Also, I can just about find my mouth with my hand (it's trickier than it looks).

Until next time.

Purple? Who let me have a purple cast?

Yes, this week they pulled out all of the stops at Children's hospital and gave me a purple cast. No biggie - I can handle the inevitable jokes. Apparently there are no more colors available, so we'll see a repeater next week. In any case - there's pretty nice progress on the foot, and this week they are putting some shape on my arch as well.

There's a restatement of my last weight to report. The "pearl" cast checked in at 2.5oz instead of 4.5, so I was really more like 7lbs, 13 oz. Since I've been gaining a little under an ounce/day, I think I'm over 8lbs now, but who knows?

My latest trick is that I stick my tongue out at Dad a lot. According to the books, that means I'm trying to talk back, but I'm really just taunting him...

I'm feeling less gassy than last week, which makes everyone here in Denver happier. Hope you weren't worried about the "grumpy" picture - it's just there for historical accuracy.

Until next time.
D.
