I'm 21! - I'm going to have a drink
That's months, not years, mind you..
So this is the bragging post where I catch you up on all of my new skills. I forget to mention stuff, sometimes.
Oh, that scar is healing up well, by the way - I get some "owie cream" (Mederma lotion) on it three times a day - pretty soon, I don't think it'll be obvious.
My foot is doing well. I'll still wear my night cast until I'm 2, but you'd be hardpressed to notice anything different. I run around now, and just started climbing stairs without holding onto anything. I can also kick a ball around the house.
I know that letters are "aybeecees" (ABCs), and can name a few of them. W and O are my favorites. I used to say "double-shoe", but I've recently cleaned up my pronounciation. We practice in the bath most evenings. I can count to two (four if prompted) and definitely understand the concept of one or two (two candles, two cars, etc). If I concentrate, I can tell some colors (red, yellow, white - not so good on green/blue), but if I'm not paying attention, I just say that something's "red".
I don't like clean-up-time (why do they always want to put away my toys at night), and try not to help with that. But if someone gives me something and says it's trash, I'll go put it in the garbage - I like doing my part, as long as my toys stay out.
I've recently started to sing and hum little songs. If someone lights candas (candles), I sing a bar of happy birthday. The parents think my vocabulary is huge, and that I'm a genius, but they might be biased...
I'll play with just about any toy with wheels on it. I have a Thomas train and a James train, and they're a lot of fun, plus I have a video of them too. Really - anything can be a toy, I still have a box from Christmas that I use as a tunnel. Recently, I've gotten very fond (dependent on) my plush dog and cat, and have a hard time sleeping if I'm not holding them.
That's about it for now. I think I'm ready to be a big brother. More on that next time.
Love, D.

Keeping up that Cowboy theme
Hey everyone.
I had so much fun at the stock show the first time, that I decided to go back last weekend with my buddy Harrison. We both got hats this time.
As always, I love to "dive" (drive) anything with wheels and a steering wheel. This time, I got to sit on the "tactors". It was still fun to play in the cornbox, and we found a petting zoo where I harassed the baby goats. I know what pigs, cows, sheep, chicken and horses are, but "donkey" and "mule" are confusing - they look just like ho-ses (Horses).
A quick guide to Danielese right now - I tend to skip "r" and "l" when pronouncing things. Papa's glasses are still "Sakas" for some reason, and my pacifier will always be my "fa". I know big important words like "Porcupine" and "Hippopotamus".
I have a webcam now, and today I had my first conference with Farmor. That was fun - I still can't figure out how she got into the computer monitor... I don't need a camera to see Grandma Babe - she's still here.
Still no baby sister. I keep asking, and now they tell me that she'll be here on Tuesday. Ha! I'll be 21 months and one day older than her, and she'll never, ever catch up with me...
I'm really good at saying "takoo" and "pease" (Thank you and Please), and the other day had to correct dad. He had asked if I'd go get a toy from the other room, but he forgot to say "please", so I reminded him "Please?" and when he said please, I went to get it.
OK, that's about it from around here. Monday I'll be 21 months old, and so I'll have an update then.
Love, D.

I'm a cowboy!
So the National Western Stock Show is in town, and we went to "see cows". There were a lot of them there, for sure. I wasn't too interested in the cows, to be honest. - The goose was kind of fun, but my favorite was this big sandbox filled with corn and beans.
I also got to ride on an amusement-park 'tain' (train) - now, that was fun. And then they had this cheesy photographer.....
Papa's friend "stein" (Oystein) was in town this weekend. I didn't see him all that much because they went "skiing" without me. Papa's told me that maybe I get to go next year.
Grandma Babe showed up unexpectedly yesterday, and I think she'll be here for a while. Supposedly my baby sister is threatening to arrive early, so Babe is hanging out with me so Mama can get some rest. I like Babe, but it's a little strange that Mama won't chase me around, so I've been on edge - I'm sure it'll pass.
I've started kicking balls around, and occasionally string 4-5 words together in a sentence "Papa watch tain ideo pease" (Dad, can I please watch the Thomas the train video). Three words is more the norm, really - and you're just going to have to trust that I do this at home, because I almost never show off my speaking skills for others.
That's about all for now - I'll keep you posted.
Love, D.

Happy New Year!
Hi there, everyone. A few things are new, obviously. I got my stiches out on the 28th as planned, and I was really good - just sat there and let Dr. Rich do his thing. It didn't hurt at all. As you can see, I still have a bit of a mark, but we're thinking that it'll fade away. I miss my bandaids though - I keep asking for them, but the parents say it needs "air".
New years eve was mellow - I was asleep by 9pm, so I don't know if anything special happened.
Yesterday, papa took me to the Nature and Science museum. They have a great little "discovery zone" where I could blow bubbles, bang on instruments, dig for things and generally explore. We'll definitely go back. Other than that, I'm glad that the snow is starting to melt so that I can use new outside toys more. There were a lot of home improvement projects over the holidays, and my little sister's room is pretty much done. Does she get her own blog? Still being discussed...
And finally - a big shout-out to my new buddy Sean Pastalaniec (click for picture). Personally, I was rooting for it being a gurl (girl), but dudes are cool too. I'll show him how to drive a truck when he comes to visit.
Until next time. D.
