I'm two months old!

Hey there, friends

I just turned two months old. Those of you who pay attention to this kind of a thing know that this is when we get our new stats. So here I am, reduced to mere numbers:

  • Weight: 10lbs, 1oz (25th percentile)
  • Height: 22.25" (50th percentile)
  • Head: 14.75" (25th percentile)

I think the height number is understated - but what the heck. You get the idea.

At your 2-month appointment, you also get a bunch of shots. I did really well, but it was still nice to get a little tylenol to kill the pain afterwards.

As you can see - my head control is excellent, and I'm smiling quite frequently. I now make little coo-ing sounds. Not quite "ah-goo", but definitely "goo" now and then. I like to copy the adults, so I'll goo, smile or stick out my tongue in response to them doing the same.

That's all for now.

Love, R.

23 Months Today - I Got To Go 'Snowing'

Hi! It snowed here last night. I went 'snowing' this morning which is what I called going outside to play in the snow. Mom and I built a snowman (well, Mom built the snowman while I coached and ate the carrots). I'm off to have some hot cocoa. Warm wishes to everyone! Love, D

Preparing to go 'snowing'. I love my mittens - when I raise one hand, the other gets pulled down.

Daniel Counts To Ten

Video proof that I can count to 10 - when I'm in the mood.

Rachel and the Parrot

Here's my first blog video: Rachel vs. the Parrot Part 1. For now, I just stalk the parrot and charm him with my smile. Stayed tune for the attack...

Buses, Trains, ladders, oh my...

Friends

I can't say words that start with "L" - it's true. Ladder becomes "alla", and no one knows why. And it's the weirdest thing, because otherwise my pronounciation is superb...

I'm a little more emotional than I used to be -> if I don't get things my way, I've started to throw a fit. I can say the word "emotional" because it doesn't start with "L".

What else? This has been a week of mass transportation. I really like buses right now, so Mama and Farmor took me downtown to ride the bus. That was fun. Then on Wednesday, I got to go to the train museum out in Golden with Farmor and papa. I liked that too. I also went to the airport on Wednesday to send Farmor home. See you soon, farmor!

Hmm, what else? Well -> I got to play with Carlos yesterday, and we colored eggs. That was fun. Then, last night, Ms Jenny came to babysit us and I asked if I could eat a "pink egg". She peeled it for me, but then it was white! How odd. So I asked for a "yellow egg", but the same thing happened. It's very strange.

And that's about all we have to report from here. Basketball is fundamentally over for this year. My bracket didn't win any money and I don't really care about the final 4. Grandpa goes back to Norway tomorrow, but I get to see him again in July.

We're making minor layout changes - let us know if you have any problems reading the new format - the old one had very narrow text columns.

That's all for now.

Love, D.

Almost 2 months old

Hey there, friends

I have changed a LOT in the last 10 days - everyone says so. I've started smiling a lot more. That, and my features are gradually changing. Dr. McCrann got to see me for the first time in 6 weeks and she says that I have mom's eyes, dad's nose and doesn't know where this cute mouth came from.

I have excellent head control.

My favorite place to be is in mom's arms, but barring that, I really like the baby bjorn carrier too. Today I slept on Grandpa's chest. I slept a LOT today.

Here's me after a bath. I think baths are OK. It's the getting out of them that I don't like much

Last night I stayed at home with Daniel and a babysitter. She was OK.

Sometime this week, I turn 2 months old. That ought to be fun. It comes with all sorts of official statistics - stay tuned.

Until next time, R.

More March Madness

Friends

You wouldn't believe how exciting I think NCAA basketball can be. I cheer, I scream. I tell the ref that he's full of it....

But mostly I've been "shut basket ball" and "dunk". Grandpa's been helping me with the lay-ups, but I don't need much help running to the basket and throwing it in. I even have a little victory dance that is just priceless. For the record, Xavier was robbed, and Odom is a meanie...

Other than that, it's just been so very nice outside this last week. I got to play in my pool, and if you look in the background is my very own "house". It's all decorated with stickers and my own artwork.

I've learned from my mistakes last year, and now I "blow" bubbles rather than sucking them in. And at night I got to grill marshmallows with Grandpa and Farmor. I also have "yellow shoes" which are cute, but really too big for me now. They also reveal that my left foot is smaller than my right - you regular readers will know why. On that front, I'm walking and running wonderfully - I have one more cast to go, but then I think I'm done.

I got to ride on Dad's bicycle yesterday - that was a lot of fun, but afterwards I had an upset tummy. Today everything's better.

Until next time. Love, D.

6 Weeks Old (and a day)

I turned 6 weeks old yesterday. I'm alert more and more each day. My eyelashes are growing so fast that if anyone had the time, they could probably see them getting longer. And....I undeniably smiled today. Other than that, I just keep doing my job - eat, sleep, digest, repeat.

March Madness 2007

Howdy, people

It's March madness time again. Farmor and Grandpa are in town. Some neighbor kids were shooting hoops, and I thought that was just the coolest thing ever. Now I have my own little hoop and basketball, and I know how to "dunk". There would be video, but mom's camera seems to be lost right now. I hope we find it.

I'm learning Norwegian. Today I learned "fin bil" which means "nice car". Grandpa has also been teaching me about car names. I can say "amborghini" and "imousine"...

It's been so nice outside lately -> i've been all over the back yard and neighborhood. Today they pulled out my swimming pool and I jumped in - clothes and all.

I can count to 10 most of the time, and I've got my colors down completely.

I am starting to say "no" more often than I used to, and if I don't get things my way, I sometimes get very, very upset. This is apparently normal behavior for an almost-2-year-old.

Elmo might be my favorite muppet right now. I have a little elmo hand puppet, and I like feeding him, having him hold my cars, and otherwise goof around. On April 21st, I get to see Elmo live on stage in "elmo makes music" - that ought to be interesting.

OK, that'll do for updates for now.

Love, D.

C'mon people!

Editor's Note: We've been offline for a little while due to some confusion, but were cleared again today. Sorry about the delay: "Your blog has been reviewed, verified, and cleared for regular use so thatit will no longer appear as potential spam."

As we were driving to the zoo this morning, mom had an issue with how some of the other drivers were handling themselves. I picked up on one key phrase "C'mon people" and have been repeating it constantly ever since.

The zoo was fun as always - I was most excited by the geese, and then when I saw this bird, I called it "blue geese" until I learned that it was a peacock. I also got ice cream, and got to ride in my wagon, which I always enjoy.
There's not really all that much else to tell this time around - I have apparently been influenced by my first marketing messages. I saw the back of a pepsi truck the other day and said "fizz truck" - fizz being my word for any carbonated beverage.

Until next time.

Love, D.

Getting around...

[note from the editors: for those regular readers of "the other blog", you may be wondering what's up with the lack of Daniel-related postings. Somehow his account got "locked" under suspicion of spam-links. We're working to resolve the problem, and in the meantime just want you to know that he's doing well and will be back on-blog as soon as possible]

Hey there

Oh yeah - I left you with a cliffhanger last time. Well, the official 1-month weigh-in was 8lbs, 7oz. So I gained a pound in 2 weeks, and everyone's happy about that.

So I'm now heavy enough that I can travel in the Baby Bjorn, which is great, because it means that I can go for walks and to the zoo. I can't say I noticed much about the zoo today. It was nice and warm out - that's all I can tell you.

I am spending longer and longer in an alert state, and there are increasing hints that I'm actually smiling outside of gassiness, but no conclusive proof yet. I'm sleeping pretty well, but have had a couple of not-as-good-as-before nights, so everyone is hopeful that those aren't a sign of things to come.

That's about it for now - I'm sure I'll start bragging about my skills soon, but for now, I'll leave you with a cute picture of me in sweats...

Love, R.
